Welcome to Blackfordby Village show 2024

Open to the public: 12pm – 4pm

Rules

Entry forms to be given to Martin O’Connor by Sunday 9th June together with entry fees, or fees can be paid on delivery of exhibits.  NB Children’s classes are free to enter.  All other classes just 50p per entry.  Your entry forms can be put in the Old School House letterbox. (Next to the school), Old School Room Letterbox or Village Hall Letterbox.

Exhibits may be staged Saturday afternoon (between 6pm and 7pm) or Sunday morning 8.30am to 10am at which point the hall will be cleared for judging to take place.

No entry to be removed on the day until after presentation of prizes.

Please note: Judges’ decisions are final.

Section A – Floral section classes are: (max two entries per person per class) 

1. A jug of mixed flowers from your garden
2. One pot Plant Foliage
3. One pot Plant Flowering
4. A Home-produced bonsai
5. Best (planted) Footwear
6. A Single flower in the container of your choice
7. Flowers in an unusual container.
8. Max A4 presentation of Lichen / Moss from your garden

Section B – Handicrafts:  (max two entries per person per class)

9. Something made from recycled household items
10. A Handmade card
11. A Floral buttonhole
12. A piece of woodwork that you could hold in your hand.
13. A piece of woodwork that doesn’t fit into class 12
14. Any Item Crochet work.
15. Any item Knitted work.
16. A piece of Textile Art. (Maximum A3 size)
17. A piece of Powertex Art
18. A photograph of a Tree (photograph max 7″ x 5″) but may be put in a suitable sized mount.
19. Painting – Something you can see in the garden. (Maximum A3 size)
20. Decorated pebbles / Stone

Section C – Blackfordby Bake-off classes are: (max two entries per person per class)

21. Jar of Savoury preserve
22. A Jar of Sweet preserve
23. Three 3” (7.5cm) scones (either plain, fruit or cheese)
24. Three Flapjacks of your choice
25. Carrot Cake of your choice
26. Three 3” x2” (7.5cm x 5cm) chocolate brownies

Section D – Children’s Classes: pre school

27.  Decorative animal made using a paper plate
28.  Five Chocolate crispy cakes

Section D – Children’s Classes: Reception – year 2     

29. Decorative animal made using a paper plate
30.  A poem
31. Five decorated cupcakes

Section D – Children’s Classes: Years 3 – 6

32.  Decorative animal made using a paper plate
33.  A poem
34.  Decorated gingerbread character
